ECS Update Term 4, Week 10 – Friday 15 December 2023

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

In many ways the start of 2023 does not seem very long ago.  It has certainly been a busy year with  lots of opportunities.  Thank you again for your support over the year (and for many of you many years before that).  The prayer, support and encouragement you provide is really appreciated.    It was great to see many of you who were able to attend the prizegiving on Monday.

Final School Day: Please remember that the School Year will finish at 12pm today.  We would really appreciate it if you could ensure your children were collected on time.

On behalf of all of the staff can I wish you a very Merry Christmas.

As you enter this Christmas season remember the awesome gift of God’s son who was sent into the world not to condemn it but to save it.  We have received a great gift of love in Christ at Christmas.  The challenge before us is to accept that gift of love, and to love in return.  Because of God’s great love for us we can know what it means to love him with all we have and to love others around us.

As Phil Wickham puts it in the lyrics to his recent song ‘Manger Throne’

Glory be to You aloneKing who reigns from a manger throneMy life, my praise, everything I ownTo Jesus the King on a manger throne

From heaven to the cradleFrom cradle to the crossLet heaven and nature singThis is our KingBut the grave couldn’t hold HimOur God has overcomeLet Heaven and nature singThis is our King

Aroha mai, aroha atu

Love received demands love returned

For those of you who end your formal time as part of the Emmanuel Christian School community can I wish you the Lord’s blessing for the years ahead.  Please do stay in touch.

Blessings

Ngā mhi nui

The Parent Handbook contains a lot of useful information.  It has been updated for 2024 and is available to download via the link below and the school website.

From the Library

1. A huge thank-you to all of the families who have supported the Scholastic Book Club this year. We have been able to add 80 books, valued at $823.00 to our library! An amazing donation!
I would personally like to thank Mrs Kerkhoven, who puts hours into the Book Club each year, advertising, liaising with Scholastic and sorting out the orders once they arrive at school.

2. Thank you, too, to the Fundraising Committee, who generously support our library with a sizeable donation each year. That’s a lot of sausages!

3. Borrowing stats are still high. For the month of November, 1067 books were issued on the 15 days the library was open that month.

4. 40 students have registered for Summer Reading over the holidays.

5. My personal thanks to the Year 10 librarians, leaving us next week. Thank you for your cheerful service to the library. May God bless each of you in the next steps He has for you.
