ECS Update Term 4, Week 1 – Friday 16 October 2026
|
|
|
Dear Parents, Caregivers, and School Community,
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope you all had a refreshing and restful break with family and friends. It is wonderful to see our students returning filled with energy and ready for what is always a dynamic, fast-paced, and meaningful term of the year.
As we enter the final stretch of 2026, we hold tight to the promise of God’s steadfast love and guidance throughout this year. As Scripture reminds us:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
— Psalm 107:1
Term 4 is packed with vibrant community events, celebrations, and opportunities for our students to shine. To help you plan ahead, please take note of a few key dates on our calendar:
- Labour Day Holiday: Monday, 26 October (School closed)
- Athletic Sports (Years 4–10): Wednesday, 28 October
- Athletic Sports (Years 1–3): Friday, 30 October
- Worship & Thanksgiving Evening: Wednesday, 11 November
- Canterbury Show Day Holiday: Friday, 13 November (School closed)
- Teacher Only Day: Monday, 16 November (School closed)
- Final Prizegiving: Wednesday 9th December
A Special Event: Worship & Thanksgiving Evening (11 November)
A central highlight of this term will be our Worship and Thanksgiving Evening on Wednesday, 11 November. This special gathering will be a time for us as a school family to give praise for God’s faithfulness over the life of the school.
Crucially, this evening will also form a key part of our formal farewell to Simone Thomas, honoring her immense contribution and service to our school community for 25 years. We strongly encourage every student and family to attend if possible to help us make this a truly memorable and fitting tribute. (Please look further down in this email for additional details and specific timings for the event).
Thank you for your ongoing support, partnership, and prayers as we navigate these final weeks of 2026 together. Let us make this last term one of growth, joy, and gratitude!
Blessings,
Ngā mihi nui,
Alistair McKinnon Principal Emmanuel Christian School

Fijian Language Week 2026
|
Bula vinaka!
This week we are celebrating Macawa ni Vosa vakaViti – Fijian Language Week (school observed). It was a wonderful opportunity to honour the rich culture, language, and traditions of Fiji within our school community.
At our school assembly, our Fijian students shared about their beautiful home country, fascinating insights into Fijian culture, geography, and traditions. To make the occasion even more special, the school learnt to sing Fijian Welcome Song, and it was especially meaningful to share this moment with our Fijian whānau who joined us for the occasion.
A heartfelt thank you to our Fijian whānau for celebrating with us and for your ongoing support of our tamariki.

KiwiSchools Connect App – Update
|
For those who are unaware, Emmanuel Christian School has a Mobile App for access by the school community. To download the app click this link (or use the QR Code): link
|
|
|
|
This App allows school: · Student Absences – this is our preferred method for notifying absences – it’s easy for you to use. · Communications – school communications all in one spot at one time and you can be connected at all times. · Calendar – links to our school calendar. · Links – to our newsletter and school website. · Alerts – The app also allows us to send out an Alert really promptly if something is happening at school that you need to know about urgently. We encourage parents to download the app today to stay up to date with what is happening in and around the school.
|
We are aware that there is currently an issue for new users trying to register with the APP. KiwiSchools is aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as part of their APP rebuild. They hope to have a resolution to this soon.
We thank you for your patience as we work together on this .

Our school now uses Ezlunch, part of the Kindo platform, for all online lunch orders.
Ezlunch offers a simple, mobile-friendly way for families to order fresh, tasty lunches from the same local providers you already know and love (Sushi Factory on Wednesdays & Subway on Thursdays).
The ordering process is quick, payments are secure, and delivery to school is reliable and easy.
Parents can order using the Kindo app (iPhone and Android) and choose from a range of convenient payment options including card, bank transfer, Google Pay, Apple Pay and more. The system also includes helpful allergen alerts and automated reminders, so no one misses out on lunch day.
