ECS Update Term 2, Week 10 – Wednesday 28th June 2023

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the Term 2, Week 10 Newsletter.

As we reach the end of term 2 I continue to be incredibly thankful for the amazing community that makes up Emmanuel Christian School.  Thank you to each of you for the part you play in this, it really is appreciated.

As you approach the term break it is my prayer that this will be a great time of refreshing for you all.  For me this end of term feels a little strange.  As you are aware I have the blessing of a sabbatical during Term 3 and will not be at Emmanuel over this time period.  While I am really looking forward to the time to learn and refresh it will certainly be a bit odd to not be onsite and involved in this community over this period.  I do know that the school is in great hands with a fantastic staff team, supportive parents, Board of Trustees and Proprietors.  I know that you will provide the same level of support as I have experienced to Tom Littlejohn as he takes the role of acting Principal.

As I mentioned to the staff yesterday Term 3 has lots of different activities I will really miss being a part of (Swimming lessons, Cultural Day, Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, School Haka Competition just to name a few).  I am looking forward to hearing all about these on my return.

Have a great holiday and a fantastic Term 3.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

Ngå mihi nui

Year 1-6 Swimming Lessons – Start of Term 3

Next term year 1-6 students start their swimming programme at the Graham Condon Recreation Centre, with the use of the swimming instructors trained in teaching water skills, safety skills and swimming.

When students arrive at school next term they will need to have their named swimming gear in a sperate bag with them.  Please ensure this (and their uniform) is well named.  If Year 1-6 students would find it easier they may wear their PE unform for the first 2 weeks of term as this is often easier for getting changed at the pool.

Each child will need a waterproof bag to store their swimming togs, towel, and comb. We recommend students wearing googles and some may prefer to use a cap as well. Many parents find the zip up supermarket bags are idea for carrying wet swimming gear.

Students are travelling in class groups by bus and the swimming timetable is as below. Parents are most welcome to watch their children make progress in their swimming lessons. The scheduled swimming times  Monday to Friday in Weeks  1 and 2 are as follows:

K6 and H2 9:30-9:55
K5 and H1 10:00-10:25
K2 and K3 10:30-10:55
K1 and K4 11:00-11:55
