Important Dates

Traffic Safety – Papanui Club Carpark

If you use the Papanui Club carpark to drop off and pick up your children we urge you to be mindful when exiting the carpark driveway onto Sawyers Arms Road.

Vehicles must give way to pedestrians on the footpath before pulling up to Sawyers Arms Road and exiting the driveway.
Also please bear in mind that a lot of children walk and scooter along this path to and from their schools (not just Emmanuel but Cotswold and others) and the footpath to the left of the driveway is partially obscured by bushes so it can be hard to see children coming until they are suddently on the footpath crossing the driveway so please advance slowly to the footpath and pause before continuing across the footpath and out onto Sawyers Arms Road.

School Closure – due to Industrial Action (Tuesday 9th May)

Members of NZEI across the country covered by this collective have been balloted with regards to taking strike action.  NZEI have indicated to Boards of Trustees indicating that South Island members will be on strike for the entire day of Tuesday 9^th May (next week). (Other regions will be on Strike later that week)

Given the impact of this on Emmanuel Christian School we wanted to let you know our plans for this day.  Most of our teaching staff are members of the union and will not be available to teach their classes on the day of the strike.

Due to this on Tuesday 9^th May, Emmanuel Christian School will be closed for instruction for the day.   We would ask you to make arrangements to have your children looked after away from school.

We are aware that for some families finding appropriate care for your child(ren) may be impossible.  We will have a small number of non-union staff on site and will be able to provide supervision to support you if required.  If you are in this situation, please complete this form so that we can plan and ensure we have appropriate supervision in place. Please remember this is only for where it is not possible for you to find any alternative arrangements.

We will keep you advised of any changes as these become known.  Negotiations are ongoing this week and a late change is always a possibility.

Cross Country

The ECS Cross Country will be held on Thursday 11th May (weather permitting).  Postponement date is Friday 12th May.

A notice was sent home this week with all the information.

Children should wear their house colours and as they will be running across some potentially rough and wet ground they must all wear suitable footwear.

Parents are welcome to come view the races.  Please enter through the Papanui Club gate entrance.  From here you will be in a marked off area that will be a parents viewing zone.

Please wait until all races have finished and children have returned to their classroom before taking your child home.

Information Night for Year 10 Parents – Tuesday 9th May – Postponed

The Parents evenning for Year 10 Parents due to occur on Tuesday night has been postponed. Further information will be sent soon.  Thank you.

Piano needed – can you help?

Our piano in the hall is needing to be replaced.  We have owned this piano for well over 20 years and it’s had a lot of use and the time has come for us to replace it.

Do you know of a family member or friend who is downsizing and would like to donate their piano?  The piano would need to be in very good condition (not needing any work to be done as otherwise we will just be in the same position we are in now with the current piano).

Or perhaps you have a great fundraising idea and would be willing to run a fundraiser to help to raise funds for a new piano?  We would love to hear from you!

Scholastic Book Orders

Once per term each student will receive a brochure for the book club to bring home. 
If you would like to order any of the books, this can be done online on LOOP.  For your first time you will need to register in order to make a Book Club LOOP login. 

We cannot take orders/payment via the Office so please order online.  Instructions are on the back of the brocure.  You will have approximately two weeks to place your order.

Once orders close, they will be sent to school and will come home with your child.
On all orders the school earns 15% in scholastic rewards which benefits our school library.

Emmanuel Christian School does not endorse all material that is available for purchase from Scholastic Book Club.  Please use your discernment when picking reading material for your child.

Lunch Online (Lunch delivery service)

Lunch Online provides a lunch delivery service to ECS on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

On Wednesday we can order from Sushi Factory and on Thursday we can order from Subway.  Click on the link below to view the menu:
