ECS Update Term 3, Week 10 – Friday 30 September 2022

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

Today marks the end of Term 3 2022.  Looking back there has been lots on.  In amongst changes in mask wearing; Year 6 Cycle Safety programme, Winter Sport programme, Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, including the house Haka competition and our school cultural day.

We have so much to be thankful for.

As you enter the two week term break, it is my prayer that this will be a time of refreshment for you all.

Cultural Day

On Thursday we had our Emmanuel Christian School Cultural day.  It was fantastic to see the colour and vibrancy of the different cultures that make up our school community.

A huge thanky you to Mrs van Mechgelen and Mrs Ng for coordinating the day, and also to all the parents who supported this.  The effort you all made to share some of who you are with us was really appreciated.  

Important Dates

Last Day of Term 3: Friday 30th September
First Day of Term 4: Monday 17th October

Labour Day Holiday: Monday 24th October

Canterbury Anniversary, Show Day Holiday: Friday 11 November

Teacher Only Day: Monday 21 November

Final School Assembly / Prizegiving: Friday 9th December
Last Day of Term 4: Tuesday 13th December (12pm Finish)

Community Dental Service

The School Dental Van will visit our school sometime next term.

Please click on the link below to read a letter from the Community Dental Service about the free dental care they provide to school children as well as information regarding Year 8 students transferring to a family dentist.

The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays.  The clinics will offer check-ups, treatment and relief of pain sessions by appointment only.   To make an appointment please call/email our Contact Centre which operates between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday throughout the holidays.

The following Dental Clinics will be open during these school holidays:

  • Northcote Clinic, 24, Tuckers Road, Casebrook,
  • Hillmorton Clinic, Hillmorton Hospital, Sylvan Street

The clinics will offer appointments between 8.15am and 4.15pm for school age and preschool children.  If your child has dental pain because of an accident, please contact your dentist in the first instance.

Summer Uniform

A reminder that from the start of Term 4 students should be wearing their Summer Uniform.

This includes Sunhats for use when they are outside.
The ECS Office has a small number of small sunhats available for sale.
