Staffing Update

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we look toward the conclusion of the 2026 school year, we do so with hearts full of immense gratitude, deep appreciation, and a touch of sadness. We write to announce that after 25 years of faithful service, Simone Thomas our Head of Primary will be retiring at the end of this school year.

When she first joined Emmanuel Christian School in 2001, she became the third full-time teacher working predominantly in the Year 3-5 class (The school roll reached 75 students at the end of that year). Over her 25 years of service, she has been an anchor of stability, helping guide our school through seasons of growth and transformation.

Throughout her tenure, she has humbly served in nearly every capacity imaginable: classroom teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Head of Primary, and on multiple occasions, taking on the responsibility of Acting Principal. Beyond her leadership roles, so many of our fondest school memories bear her creative mark, from memorable school productions to school sports events and everything in-between.

Above all else, her time at Emmanuel has been defined by a deep commitment to serving the Lord and witnessing His faithfulness. She has modelled Christ-like servant leadership to generations of students, staff, and families, leaving a strong imprint on the heart of our community.

On a personal note, I am deeply grateful for her wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support throughout my own time here at Emmanuel. She has been a pillar of strength to me, and I will deeply miss her presence, encouragement, and thoughtful counsel in our daily work.

In writing this, I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s encouragement in Galatians 6:9:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

As a result of Simone’s dedication to the Lord and her role at Emmanuel Christian School, we have seen a rich harvest in the lives of so many students and staff impacted for Christ.

While we will miss her, we rejoice with her as she prepares for a well-deserved new season in 2027. One filled with rest, new adventures, and precious time spent with family and friends.

Looking Ahead

As we look forward to the next season in the life of our school, the Board and School Leadership will in due course advertise for her replacement to ensure a smooth transition. We remain confident in God’s continued guidance and provision for Emmanuel Christian School.

We will have opportunities closer to the end of the year to celebrate her legacy and express our thanks together as a community. For now, please join us in extending our heartfelt appreciation for her 25 years of dedicated ministry and service to Emmanuel Christian School.

Blessings

Alistair
