Kia ora e te whānau,
It has been a real joy to welcome our students and families back to Emmanuel for the start of the year. The first week has been full of energy, smiles, and the familiar hum of learning and laughter that makes our school such a special place. A special welcome to the families who are new to our community this year. We are delighted that you have joined us and pray that you quickly feel at home at Emmanuel Christian School.
Students have settled well into routines and have especially enjoyed making the most of the extended back field area and the new playground space which opened this morning. These areas are already proving to be places where friendships are formed, creativity is expressed, and children flourish through play and connection.
On Wednesday we gathered as a community for a mihi whakatau where we formally welcomed new students, staff, and families into our school. Our students led us with confidence and pride through our school haka, reminding us of who we are and what we stand for; a community seeking excellence, Christ-like character, service, and wisdom, grounded in our faith in the God. It was a meaningful moment of unity and belonging, and a wonderful way to mark the beginning of the year together.
As we begin the year, Psalm 127 anchors our vision: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” While we invest time, energy, and care into building strong learning environments and relationships, we do so with the clear understanding that it is the Lord who gives growth and purpose. Our prayer is that Emmanuel Christian School would be a place God is actively building, shaping hearts, forming character, and guiding our community in His ways.
Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you in the education and discipleship of your children. We look forward with confidence and gratitude to all that God will build in and through our school community in the year ahead.
