Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
As Term 2 unfolds, many of our students have been hard at work preparing for our school musical production, Faith News. Tickets are now available — see below for details. This promises to be a wonderful event and we encourage you not to miss it!
It’s always valuable to pause and reflect on God’s faithfulness, something we’ve experienced time and again since Emmanuel Christian School began in 1987. I’d like to take a moment to share a special part of that journey with you.
This week marks 25 years since Emmanuel Christian School moved to our current location at 322a Sawyers Arms Road, back in Term 2 of 2000. At the time, we had just 46 students and 4 staff. The move came after a lengthy search to find a new site, as our original location on Worcester Street could no longer meet our growing needs.
Judy McClay, principal at the time, had been faithfully praying for a site in the north of Christchurch —close to the ring roads and ideally next to a park. God answered those prayers in remarkable ways. Today, 25 years on, we are well established here and continue to enjoy the blessing of our location, including the adjoining park where we’ll soon hold our school cross country.
The photo below is from our very first day on this site in Term 2, 2000. It’s a powerful reminder of God’s provision. We remain deeply thankful for the many people who have poured time, energy, and prayer into this school since its founding. Without their faithfulness, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Once again, Faith News is an event not to be missed — we look forward to seeing you there.
Blessings,
Ngā mihi nui,
Alistair
