ECS Update Term 1, Week 7 – Friday 13th March 2026

Kia ora e te whānau,
Thank you to the many parents and caregivers who made time to attend our Parent–Teacher interviews this week. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect together, and consider how each child is growing both academically and personally. We are grateful for the partnership we share with families as we seek to support and guide our students in their learning and development.
This week we also celebrate alongside our friends at Aidanfield Christian School (formally Canterbury Christian College), who are marking 30 years this week . Milestones such as this are a wonderful reminder of God’s faithfulness over many years. We give thanks for the generations of students, families, and staff who have been part of that community, and for the way God has continued to sustain and grow the work of Christian schooling.
It is also a reminder of the strength and encouragement that comes from being part of a wider community of Christian schools across our city. While each school has its own character and context, we share the same desire; to see Christ honoured and young people nurtured in faith, wisdom, and learning. We are grateful for these partnerships and pray that God will continue to guide and bless the work of all our schools in the years ahead.
Ngā mihi nui,
Alistair McKinnon Principal Emmanuel Christian School

Our school is now using Ezlunch, part of the Kindo platform, for all online lunch orders (Ezlunch has taken over Lunchonline who we had previously been using).
Ezlunch offers a simple, mobile-friendly way for families to order fresh, tasty lunches from the same local providers you already know and love (Sushi Factory on Wednesdays, Subway on Thursdays). The ordering process is quick, payments are secure, and delivery to school is reliable and easy.
Parents can order using the Kindo app (iPhone and Android) and choose from a range of convenient payment options including card, bank transfer, Google Pay, Apple Pay and more. The system also includes helpful allergen alerts and automated reminders, so no one misses out on lunch day.
Our lunch providers are Sushi Factory on Wednesdays and Subway on Thursdays.

Music Festival – Years 5-8
|
Our choir is excited to be part of the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival this year.
The Festival is still looking for more applications to audition for one of the Representative groups. They are looking for the best singers for the Junior Choir (Yr 5 & 6) and Senior Choir (Yr 7 & 8), and for talented musicians (Grade 3 equivalent and above) to audition for the Orchestra and Concert Band.
The audition process takes only 5 minutes and each student is auditioned individually. Information on what is required in the audition is on our website.
The Representative groups are on stage in the Christchurch Town Hall for every performance of the Festival (4 nights). With more than a thousand people in the audience and 900 children in the choir stalls watching every night, it is an amazing experience they will never forget.
To find out more information or to register your child click here:
https://musicfestival.school.nz/representative-group-information/joining-a-representative-group/
Be quick, registrations close 01 April. For Years 5-8 students only.
