Coloured Sand Recall 

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

You may have seen recent news reports about some brands of kinetic and coloured sand being recalled due to the presence of a naturally occurring form of asbestos. I know that stories like this can naturally cause concern, so I wanted to update you on our situation here at Emmanuel.

We have taken time to carefully check all of the coloured sand used at school. None of what we have is part of the recalled products. We did have a small amount of coloured sand that falls outside the affected batches, and although it wasn’t identified as a risk, we have chosen to seal and remove it as a  precaution. We will make no use of coloured sand here at school for the foreseeable future.

While there is no known issue with any items at Emmanuel, we are continuing to follow advice from the appropriate agencies and will respond promptly to any new guidance should it arise. All teaching spaces remain safe and will be open for students as normal tomorrow.
