Kia ora e te whānau,
As I’ve reflected this week, the words of Ephesians 4:1–2 have been sitting with me:
“Live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
At the heart of this passage is a powerful call to unity. The kind that is shaped by humility, gentleness, and a willingness to walk with one another in love. It’s the kind of unity that strengthens a community and reflects Christ in all we do.
Over the past week, I’ve been reminded just how much of a blessing unity truly is. On Friday I had the joy of gathering with principals from Christian schools across the South Island. A time of prayer, worship, encouragement, shared challenges, and fellowship. There is something incredibly uplifting about coming together with others who share a common purpose and calling. These moments remind us that we are part of something bigger than our own school: a network of communities seeking to honour God through education.
Looking ahead, a reminder that this coming Monday, 17th November, is a Teacher Only Day.
Our staff will be working together on curriculum development as we continue preparing for 2026. These days are incredibly valuable for collaboration, shared thinking, and ensuring we are providing the best possible learning for our students. It is another expression of unity in action, our team gathering with a shared purpose, seeking to strengthen the education and formation we offer your children.
As we head into the rest of the term, may we continue to “bear with one another in love” and seek unity in all we do. In classrooms, in conversations, and in the life of our Emmanuel community.
