Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
I wanted to let you know that the New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) has notified schools including Emmanuel of potential industrial (strike) action on Thursday 23 October. If this strike goes ahead, we may only receive three days’ formal notice.
The school board has discussed this scenario, with a significant number of our staff impacted. If this action proceeds Emmanuel Christian School will need to close for instruction on that day, as we will not have sufficient teaching staff available to safely operate classes. We will confirm this with you as soon as any formal notice is received.
We are aware that this may cause challenges for some families and wanted to give you some advance notice. If school is closed for instruction, and you require supervision for your child on that day, we will have several staff available to provide this. Please use the form below to let us know supervision is needed:

We understand that situations like this can be disruptive, and we want to assure you that we will keep you informed as soon as there is any confirmed information.
As always, we continue to approach these times with patience and grace. We are thankful for the unity and support within our school community and trust that God’s wisdom will guide all involved in the process ahead.
Warm regards,
Alistair McKinnon
Principal
Emmanuel Christian School
