If your child has trialled and got into the hockey, netball or football teams that travels to Hagley Park or Nunweek Park on Fridays throughout Terms 2 and 3, you will have received a notice by email with more information.
This starts in week 3 of Term 2 (Friday the 16th of May) and runs for 6 weeks then also 6 weeks in Term 3. We travel to Hagley Park or Nunweek Park via bus/van and leave school around 12.30pm returning to school around 2.45/3pm.
On Friday, the children will need to wear/bring PE gear with sports shoes and have their school polar fleece or jersey as it can get very cold. In addition, if your child is playing: Hockey: a mouth guard, shin pads, sport socks and hockey stick (we do have some at school if needed) Football: shin pads, soccer boots and sport socks. Netball: Girls: bike shorts to go under netball dress. Boys: normal PE gear Sport Socks: As part of our uniform we ask that students wear dark blue sport socks that can fit shin pads under them you can purchase these from Rebel sport for $13.
We are in need of several parents to help with managing and/or coaching teams this year. If you are able to help with your son/daughters team by going along with the team and helping with coaching on Friday afternoons please let us know. If we don’t have enough parent help we are unable to send teams.
If you are able to help or need more details please see Mr Tom Littlejohn or email:

Join us for a fun, supportive workout where Mums of all fitness levels can come together, move and motivate each other every step of the way. It’ll be on every Thursday morning during Term 2. The class starts at 9:15 to 10:00am at 90 Highsted Road, in the back hall of the Reformed Church of Bishopdale. It’s a fun, circuit-style workout that works for all fitness levels, with moves that can be modified to suit you. At just $5 per class, all funds will go to help build a new school playground. Concessions are available for just $40 for the term, available from the school office. Younger kids are welcome to hang out in the play area (just keep an eye on them!).
Get your body moving, clear your mind, and support a great cause!

The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10-13, held in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and the USA. The winning team from each heat competes in a National Final. National champions compete in the World Final, to be held, this year, in Johannesburg. Our Year 7/8 team of four headed off to Tūranga Library on Tuesday this week, a little apprehensive about what to expect. There were scores of students from various parts of Christchurch and Canterbury; the room was buzzing with excitement. The 10-round competition got underway at 10am, with topics as diverse as “Accessories”, “Bullies”, “Mothers” and “Nicknames”. To our surprise, we won the first round, and with it, a crisp $5.00 note each! I am delighted to report that we came out 10th in a field of 38 teams! A great result for our first effort! I was very proud of the boys. Moreover, they were great ambassadors for our school.
A special thank-you to Mrs Bosgra who transported us to and from the venue.

There is a lot of lost property including polar fleeces, jerseys/cardigans, drink bottles, lunch boxes and clothing in the lost property box outside K5/k6 in the Office hallway.
Please come and check through the Lost Property even if you don’t think your child has lost anything. You might be surprised!
Anything not claimed by the end of Term will be discarded.
Please continue to name your child’s uniform and other items such as drink bottles and lunch boxes. If they have a name on them we can return them to their owner but if there is no name, or the name is a previous student there is no way for us to reunite these items with their owners.
If you are looking to buy some clothing labels, we have set up an on-going fundraising link through Precious Labels. They sell a wide range of labels from stick-on labels for drink bottles, lunchboxes and shoes to stick-on, sew-on and iron-on clothing labels.
When you purchase anything from Precious Labels using our affiliate link below, the fundraising committee will receive 20% commission.
